Channel: Drew Binsky Who: Drew Binsky (born Drew Goldberg), United States Subscribers: 7.5M (7.51M as of 25 October 2026) Niche: travel stories about people and cultures in every country
Drew Binsky's channel began with a camera his girlfriend bought him when they moved to Hanoi. Before that he was an English teacher writing a travel blog. As of 25 October 2026 the channel has 7.51 million subscribers and about 1,200 videos, he has visited every country recognised by the United Nations, and his episodes now go out on Netflix as well as YouTube.
Binsky was born Drew Goldberg in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. "Binsky" was a family nickname. His first trip overseas was to Israel in 2009. At the University of Wisconsin–Madison he spent a semester studying in Prague, travelled to more than 20 countries across Europe, and decided he wanted to make a career out of travel.
He graduated in 2013 with degrees in economics and entrepreneurship, then told his parents he was moving to South Korea to teach English. His father told CNBC in 2019 how that went down: "A double degree from a major university and he's running off to teach English?" Binsky spent 18 months teaching in Seoul, earned a black belt in taekwondo and travelled to 20 countries in Asia along the way.
In 2015 he quit teaching to travel full time, starting with a three-month solo trip across India. By October 2015 he had been to 73 countries. He was writing a blog called The Hungry Partier, later renamed Drew Binsky, and posting his trips to Instagram and Snapchat. None of it was video on YouTube yet.
That changed in 2017. When Binsky and his girlfriend Deanna Sallao moved to Hanoi, Vietnam, she bought him a camera, and he started posting videos to a YouTube channel under the same name as his blog. In May 2017 he uploaded a video of an organised trip to North Korea to YouTube and Facebook. It passed 10 million views within two days.
From there he set himself a rule of one video a day. "You can't just overnight become a successful video-maker or anything with any profession," he told CNBC. "If you're a golfer, you can't just wake up tomorrow and be on the PGA Tour." He made more than $154,000 in 2018 from Facebook and YouTube ads and brand partnerships, but said his monthly income swung between $1,000 and $30,000 depending on how many views his videos got.
Binsky's goal was to visit all 197 UN-recognised countries by the end of 2020, before his 30th birthday. The pandemic slowed him down, and he finished on 29 October 2021 in Saudi Arabia. He holds two Guinness World Records, for visiting the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 24 hours and for the fastest time to pack a suitcase. In 2024 he published Just Go, a book of stories from those 197 countries.
In September 2026 Variety reported that Netflix had signed him: from 19 September a collection of his episodes is on Netflix, with new episodes released there on the same day as YouTube. Variety says his travel documentaries get more than 200 million views a month and that he has 22 million followers across platforms. His channel description sums up the mission: stories about "the world's most interesting people, hidden communities, and remarkable cultures."
Binsky built his audience one video a day for years before the big moments arrived. His own numbers show the catch with living off ads and sponsors: income that swings from $1,000 to $30,000 a month with the algorithm. If you're a travel or adventure creator, the fans who follow every trip are the steadiest income you have, and a membership lets them pay for the next one.
You don't need 7.5 million subscribers to set that up. On Yaff you can share trip updates, photo dumps, videos and ebooks behind monthly tiers, take tips, and talk to supporters in group chats and DMs. Starter is free with a 5% platform fee, and payouts go to your bank daily via Stripe.
