We're Rich and Nicole, the team behind Yaff.
Yaff started in January 2025 in New Zealand but the idea began years earlier, somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
In 2022, we left behind our lives in NZ, booked a one-way flight to Europe, and bought a catamaran with almost zero sailing experience. With our two kids in tow, we spent 14 months learning to sail, navigating from Greece across the Mediterranean, and eventually crossing the Atlantic to explore the Eastern Caribbean. It was epic. It was life-changing. And it wasn't cheap.
That experience opened our eyes to just how hard it is to fund your dreams - whether you're an athlete chasing a goal, an adventurer living unconventionally, or a creator telling meaningful stories. So when we returned home, we set out to build a platform to solve that problem.
We've built tech products before (
Litmos was our first baby), but Yaff is different. This time it's personal. Yaff exists so people like us - those living off-script - can tell their stories, grow their communities, and get paid doing it. Great storytelling has value. It inspires, connects, and fuels the journey.
