Start of the journey excitement

If you follow my Instagram, you’ve probably seen we’ve officially set sail.
Starting something new always comes with excitement, but also fear of the unknown. I hope everyone gets to experience that feeling at some point, taking a step without fully knowing where it leads.
We left Fort Lauderdale and crossed toward the Bahamas. It wasn’t the roughest passage, but it was enough to have most of us seasick. That’s just part of sailing. Even the Whitaker family, who’ve been sailing for 10 years, still deal with it at the start.
Except Renee. She’s editing in rough seas like it’s nothing. Honestly makes no sense 😂
With passages also come night shifts, and I’ve got the 3 to 6 a.m. shift, which isn’t bad compared to 12 to 3. I get decent sleep before and after, so I’m usually up around 10.
This trip I also have my own room, which is a huge upgrade. I took over what they call the hobbit hole. I can’t fully stand up in it, but having my own space, a desk, AC, my own bathroom, and a comfortable bed is going to make a big difference on a trip this long. Last time crossing the Atlantic, I was basically sharing a room with Jack haha.
I’ve actually been really enjoying this part of my morning routine, keeping you all updated. This isn’t real time yet, but a couple more posts and we’ll be there. Time flies out here, and I’m working on balancing play and work better than I have in the past, building something that actually matters...I did just go diving before writing this, but that’s a post for another day 😉
